Classic Style Meets Modern Comfort in Mercersburg

Have you ever felt like you were born in the wrong era? Do you watch movies like Great Gatsby and Titanic with a longing to be part of those times? If so, you might just love this Pennsylvania Inn, a beautiful mansion-style inn. With a grandeur that evokes the height of turn-of-the-century style, this fantastic inn delivers both stately atmosphere and modern amenities.

The inn was originally built in 1909 by a man named Harold “Harry” W. Byron, after he made a small fortune as a tannery operator in Williamsport, Maryland and in Mercersburg. Built in supreme Colonial Revival style, the inn is a spectacle of history and an especially interesting example of turn-of-the-century architecture. Originally named Prospect, the Byrons were forced to sell the property in 1945 after enduring financial difficulty during the Great Depression. After changing hands numerous times, the home became an Inn.

Today, the inn stands as both a monument to the past of Mercersburg as well as a functional and viable business. With 17 guest rooms between the main house and the smaller, newly-constructed Carriage House, you’ll have plenty of room for guests. The rooms all feature strong WiFi coverage and private baths, many with full tubs or spa tubs, and a few with functional wood-burning fireplaces and private balconies. This inn is a perfect retreat for honeymooners, diplomats or couples looking to get away from it all – and just 2 hours from Washington, D.C., you’ll find it easy to get lots of those.

The inn also features four common rooms where guests can enjoy games, TV, cocktails, and good company. From the Solarium—a light-filled conservatory with a full bar for your guests—to the Game Room with a piano, pool table, television and small library, you’ll have plenty of ways to entertain and occupy your guests while they’re at the inn.

Pennsylvania ElegantOutside of the inn itself, the town of Mercersburg offers several other attractions of note. Chief among them is Mercersburg Academy, a world-class college preparatory boarding school. With more than 400 students and a large, active alumni population, the Mercersburg Academy draws hundreds of visitors to the town each year. The inn is also less than 30 minutes from a major Pennsylvania ski area and a popular state park, which puts the Inn right in the center of a wealth of activity and entertainment.

What more can we say about this spectacular inn?
