Beyond the assumed performance benchmarks used (reliable Wi-Fi, clean bedding, guest security and “no evidence of previous guests”), the evaluation stays grounded in the ideology of Select Registry’s founder, Norman Simpson, who believed Inns were a “reflection of the personalities and tastes of the individual innkeeper-owners.” So, appropriately the inspection also considers whether or not the property exudes a “sense of place.” This idea pervades every category of the report, from the uniqueness of the physical plant to offering local/seasonal ingredients in dining to attentiveness of staff and their knowledge of the Inn’s location and area activities.
While many Select Registry properties score high on their Evaluation, it is rare for a property to achieve a 100% score. In fact, only three current members of over 325 Select Registry Inns have a 100% rating.
